It was an upset that registered on the richter.

Earlier this week...the Iolani girls volleyball team surprised Kamehameha...the 2-time defending state champ, and a team ranked in the top-5, according to prepvolleyball.com

Among the standout performances for the Raiders..one which we chose, for the KHON2 Athlete of the Week.

It turned out to be a battle but in the end Iolani...in front of the home crowd knocked off a Kamehameha team that was previously unbeaten in ILH play and ranked 3rd nationally.

Leinani Keanini posted 11 kills in the 3 game win.

Because of the win the Raiders stole the ILH lead from the Warriors and now have a new sense of confidence building in the team and it showed with a second win this week...against Maryknoll.

Keanini and raiders have goals set for the near future...league and state championships included...but but for the senior...a once distant goal has also become a reality for her in the way of a college scholarship..
