By KHON Sports

THE RAINBOW BASEBALL TEAM SPLIT IT'S SERIES WITH FRESNO STATE THIS PAST WEEKEND BUT GOT OFF TO A GREAT START...TWO STRAIGHT WINS...TWO STRAIGHT SHUTOUTS...TONIGHT WE HONOR THE HURLERS FROM THOSE GAMES AS OUR KHON2 ATHLETES OF THE WEEK.
Back to Back wins and both shutout victories against Fresno state to open the wac season this past weekend marks the first time since the opening two games of the 1999 season that UH blanked their opponent in consecutive games.
It's also the first back to back "WAC" shut outs since april of 1992...Jared Alexander got the win on Friday while Nick Rhodes blanked the dogs on Saturday.

Rhodes was named the wac pitcher of the week for his performance...8 and 2 thirds innings giving up just 2 hits and 2 walks but struck out 11 batters...
While Alexander pitched a complete game allowing 4 hits with 10 strikeouts...not wac honors but he was named...get this...the stat stud dot com...national pitcher of the day...

According the wac honoree and the stat stud...the healthy competition will only make them better...

Bows are on the road for a 15 day 9 game road trip...starting Friday at Sacramento state.
Congratulations to Jared Alexander and Nick Rhodes our KHON 2 athletes of the week.
