The USS Chung Hoon returned to Joint Base Pearl Harbor Tuesday morning from a deployment to the western Pacific.
As they pulled into port, the sailors received a visual reminder of the government shutdown.
“On our way back, we went and rendered honors to the Arizona, and usually there are so many tourists out there who go and pay their respects. For us, it was even a more special experience to go alongside the Arizona and render honors and have nobody there at the memorial,” said Cmdr. Justin Orlich, USS Chung Hoon.
During the six-month deployment, nearly 280 sailors conducted integrated operations with allies and partners.
