The House will vote Saturday on a bi-partisan bill to pay back federal workers who have been furloughed during the government's partial shutdown.
Furloughed workers may apply for unemployment benefits.
If congress approves the bill to pay back furloughed workers, those employees will likely be required to reimburse the state for benefits received.
The state labor department encourages people to file for unemployment benefits online to avoid long lines.
"When you file your online claim make sure you check off the box that says 'still employed' or 'temporarily laid off' because a lot of people have been checking off 'labor disputes' or 'suspension' and that kind of delays the claim," state Unemplolyment Insurance Division administrator Linda Uesato said.
