State lawmakers are taking up the controversial same-sex marriage bill in a special session Monday morning.
As many as 1,000 people are expected to testify in support and against the bill.
The special session hearing began at 10:30 a.m. in the State Capitol Auditorium.

One of the bills, HB5, proposes to amend the state constitution to require that marriage to be reserved to opposite-sex couples.
