A woman who failed to return from a work furlough program last week is back in custody.
Department of Public Safety officials say Jennifer Garcia was supposed to return to the Women’s Community Correctional Center by 9 p.m. last Friday. When she failed to return at the scheduled time, Honolulu police and state sheriffs were notified.
Sheriff deputies located Garcia at about 8:30 a.m. Tuesday in the University area. She was then transported back to WCCC, where she will be charged with second-degree escape.
Garcia is currently in a transitional program, which is lower than minimum security. She was serving time for promotion of a dangerous drug and second-degree robbery.
