First Video: Experienced Hiker Rescued

Honolulu Rescue One of the Fire Departments rescue team of five. Rescued a male hiker from Colorado on the Kuliouou Trail.

The hiker, Brian Hillsley visiting went hiking at 12:15 p.m. and called for help at 3:40 p.m. yesterday. He found himself stranded on a ledge. It took four hours to reach the man on foot and HFD rescue personal were able to bring him out early this morning at 5:30 a.m.

HFD department's helicopter could not bring the hiker out safely due to windy conditions and a larger Coast Guard helicopter called in to assist ran into the same problem. It was at this time rescue personal went in on foot at 6:45 p.m.

This morning at 5:30 a.m. he was escorted out of the trail with no injuries, but a story to tell on this 17 hr. hike.
