‘Iolani School Fair takes on Olympic Theme'

The 17th annual ‘Iolani School Fair “Go For The Gold” takes place Friday and Saturday, April 18 and 19 from noon to 10:30 p.m. at the school’s campus. Proceeds benefit student activities. Admission is free. Call 943-2339.

The fair features free big screen movies and live entertainment, food booths, games, Xtreme amusements, cooking demonstrations, an art sale featuring Hawaii artists, silent auction with 2008 Beijing Olympic travel packages, crafts, chic boutique with gently used clothes, homemade goods, produce, plants and more. A new attraction this year is “Eco-Square” which provides education on how to live green and protect the environment. The fair is also discouraging the use of plastic bags and will promote reusable bags.

Free movies will be shown on a big screen on the football field at 7:15 p.m. with “Hairspray” on Friday and “Transformer” on Saturday.

Friday Noon - Wah Ngai Lion Dance

12:30 p.m. – ‘Iolani dancers

2:00 p.m. – ‘Iolani stage bands

4:00 p.m. – Brother Noland

5:15 p.m. – Cooking Demo by Chef D.K. Kodama of Sansei

6:00 p.m. – MighTy J

7:15 p.m. – Cooking Demo by Chef Sean Prister of Top of Waikiki

7:30 p.m. – Slack Key Master George Kahumoku, Jr.

9:15 p.m. – Ho`okoa

Saturday Noon – Wah Ngai Lion Dance

12:30 p.m. – Cooking Demo by Henry Adaniya of Hank’s Haute Dogs

2:00 p.m. – Hawaii MusicWorks

3:30 p.m. - Talent Show

5:15 p.m. – Chef Goran Streng of Tango

6:00 p.m. – Beach 5

7:15 p.m. – Cooking Demo by Chef Ronnie Nasuti (Roy’s Restaurant)

7:30 p.m. – Greg Sardinha and Zanuck Lindsey with Kimo Artis
