Honolulu Mayor Kirk Caldwell has been cleared by the Ethics Commission.
KHON2 reported in February on the more than $360,000 in private donations used to help Caldwell transition into office.
The Ethics Commission took a look at the funds and found they were all used appropriately.
"The mayor said he was gratified that the committee found that he didn't do anything wrong, that he's interested in being very open and transparent in this sort of thing. And he had actually invited the executive director of the Ethics Commission to attend the press conference today and participate in it," said Lex Smith with the Mayoral Transition Committee.
Government officials are not allowed to receive gifts because it may lead to preferential treatment by the official donor, which is inconsistent with the official's ethical duty.
The first runner to cross the finish line of the 2013 Honolulu Marathon was Gilbert Chepkwony who finished in 2:18:47.
Dry weather conditions made for a great day as thousands of runners participated in the 41st Annual Honolulu Marathon. Those who ran inspired others to participate next year-- while those who cheered from the sidelines helped motivate them to keep running.
