A 40 year-old Wahiawa man was killed when he was hit head-on by a wrong way driver on the H-2 Freeway Saturday morning.

It happened at 2:20 a.m. on the north-bound direction near Ka Uka Blvd.

Police say a 21 year-old man from Waianae, driving a 1992 white BMW was heading the wrong way when he collided with a silver Tacoma truck driven by the 40 year-old man.

The pickup truck flipped on its side. The BMW hit the median.

Police say a third vehicle, a 2005 Jeep driven by a 58 year-old Mililani man was traveling behind the truck and was unable to stop in time and struck the pickup on its side.

Police say the 40 year-old man died at the scene. The driver of the BMW was taken to the Queens Medical Center in critical condition. The driver of the Jeep was also taken to Queens, with serious injuries.

Police closed the freeway for about four hours to investigate. It's unknown whether speed, drugs or alcohol played factors in the crash.

Police say the accident is the 47th fatality compared to 53 at the same time last year.

From the update (posted at 10pm): "Police say it's unknown if speed, drugs or alcohol were factors in this crash." The BMW driver's been in the hospital 20 hours and they can't come up with a preliminary toxicology report? Oh yeah, HPD, my bad. Chalk this BMW driver up with the other common crime here: Driving while stupid.

Dear Lord, please Heal the driver of the other vehicle that was struck by this man from Waianae and may he be healed also so he may come to know what he did and how much pain he caused these 2 families. Lord have Mercy on this Waianae man. Lord, please comfort the family, and friends of the deceased man. We all need the Lord, Jesus Christ as our lord and Savior. If you do not have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, do so now, for you do not know the hour when He will call you. Get ready now. Aloha DG

Too bad about the dead guy. Lucky for the BMW driver that this is Hawaii. After he recovered, he got probation time coming, maybe lose his DL for short time, Hawaii's criminal justice system...joke!

The majority of people now do not follow laws or rules. They believe in "Ainoke, I do what I like" attitude. Most people think its normal not to follow the law or any rules. Where did this bad attitude come from?

Thats what we need now...especially at the upcoming holiday season upon us...another INNOCENT driver...DOA. I hope HPD does a thorough investigation cuz pretty much everyday, I see how drivers with BMW, Lexus, and other $$ cars actually drive VERY hazardously on the roads...either tailgating, cutting me off, speeding on a public street or even higher on the freeways. And of course, DUI...if you think you cant handle, PULL to the side of the road and take a rest...the life you may save may be your OWN besides harming others.

He was either on drugs or drunk. My condolences to the family of the driver of the truck. Speedy recovery to the driver of the BMW who will face the consequences in court or by God, and to the driver of the Jeep vehicle. So tragic.

Too bad cops didn't see this drugged out, crazy, mass murderer. Cops could have shot to kill to protect the public and the dead guy would still be alive and all the others would not be in the hospital. This was a mass murderer driving a 4000 pound bullet. He should be hung slowly. These kind of murderers must get at least life in prison.
