Maui seemed to get the brunt of it. Heavy rain and flooding created a raging river outside of Hana town blocking access to drivers.
And parts of the island were left in the dark just before 5:00pm after lightning caused a power outage from Huelo to Hana.
On Oahu, the night sky was also lit up with lightning and thunderstorms. But earlier, surf was where all the action was at. Lifeguards made half a dozen rescues from Hanauma Bay to Makapuu Beach Park.
High surf also pounded the Big Island. With waves crashing against Hilo's Bayfront and onto the highway forcing Hawaii County Officials to take action.
"We had calls coming in, they were worried about the traffic situation. We had of course Bayfront closed down, we also had some issues with traffic lights out in Puna," said Kaohu James, Hilo KWXX Radio DJ.
Heavy rain also caused problems, with downpours flooding some areas.
"THe old island Chevrolet lot, right when there was a huge downpour, and it looks like there is a little lake there," said James.
A lake oceanside, but mountainside winter weather brought snow to Mauna Kea.
"I tried to see if I could get a look at the mountain, but I couldn't see it," said James.

Surf was also bad enough for Young Brothers to halt barge arrivals into Maui until Friday due to unsafe conditions.
