A Waianae man, who ran a port-a-potty business, will spend 20 years in prison for sexually assaulting a 15-year-old boy.Henry Moisa was found guilty of sexually assaulting the former employee.
Moisa used his position of power to have sex with the teenager.
The victim's mom held a handwritten note as she addressed her son's molester.
"Not only for the justice for my son and myself, but also for all the children, or young boys who were also exploited,” said the victim’s mother.
"I asked him flat out what do you want to see happen to the defendant. A lot of jail time, no jail time? And he frankly said I have nothing to say, and now I just want to forget about all this,” said deputy prosecutor, Adrian Dhakhwa.
Moisa ran a port-a-potty business and was known to hire teens.
The state argued that Moisa should be given consecutive sentences.
"A twenty year sentence, or in the state's view the forty year sentence would provide a reasonable amount of punishment to deter the defendant as well as other from doing something like this,” said Dhakhwa.
"We believe that the state's motion for consecutive terms is basically because Mr. Moisa fought this case and presented witnesses on his behalf,” said Moisa’s attorney, Daphne Barbee.
The motion for consecutive terms was denied.
Judge Glenn Kim handed down a 20 year prison term.
Moisa didn't speak during his sentencing.
"This is his first conviction and we dispute of course the finding of guilt by the jury, but we'll do that in a proper way, which is an appeal,” said Barbee.
Moisa's minimum sentence will be set by the Hawaii Paroling Authority.
