The National Weather Service in Honolulu has CANCELLED the FLOOD WATCH FOR MAUI, MOLOKAI, LANAI AND KAHOOLAWE.

EFFECTS: Although the remnant of Felicia is expected to bring cloudy and showery weather to north and east facing coasts and slopes of the smaller Islands, the atmosphere over the Islands will be to stable for excessive heavy rains to develop.

PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES: THE PUBLIC SHOULD REMAIN CAUTIOUS AND ALERT FOR ANY POSSIBLE FLOODING CONDITIONS. DON'T TRY TO CROSS FLOODED ROADWAYS OR FAST FLOWING STREAMS IN YOUR VEHICLE OR ON FOOT. IT MAY BE TOO DANGEROUS. TURN AROUND. DON'T DROWN.

Of all the weather reports that I have seen on all other news, Justin seems to be the most accurate. Second would be Malika Dudley as she was one of the first weather persons to say the storm is inching north and if it continued would be avoiding the big island and going over Maui and Oahu. Seems to be right on tract just as Justin was stating. Good Job Justin in keep us on the big island informed.

replying to runnermom 808; The main point of everyone's comments are what NOAA and KGMB say are different. NOAA repeatedly gave a percentage of Felicia becoming a depression or TS which got higher by Thursday. KGMB panic attacked throughout the week to scare everyone. How many are regretting panic shopping now?

replying to runnermom 808 The first line of the article says the tropical storm is still heading towards the islands... Forecasters cancelled the warning for Hawaii Island because Felicia will only hit the northern tip of the island, as of now. The storms route is constantly changing. The path of the storm goes over the tip of Hawaii in the latest forecast, so the storm is heading more towards Oahu and Maui now, no longer directly at Hilo.

This article as well as the comments posted are confusing. Nowhere in the article does it say WHY the storm watch was canceled on the Big Isle, yet the map shows no change in the storm. The comments are suggesting nothing is headed our way. Are you kidding? I agree the reporting is iffy at best, but the radar of this storm is what it is. It certainly is no rain shower.

I think the real reason for such a buildup by the media to this hurricane/storm was so that Lingle could say, "See what COULD have happened?? Now you don't want us using the 'hurricane fund' to balance our out of control [cause of the Legist.wealthy 36%!-on the backs of State/middle class] budget!" (she's doing a great job of telling the media what to say.) Were you scared?? This storm is all broke up now. Hope we at least get enough rain to replenish the wells!

What will KGMB's weatherman say now? Yesterday on radio he said "Hurricane Felicia is bearing down on the state". I applaud KHON on the professionalism to report news, not views,(except the TV shows...Joe misses Hill Street and MASH)

Use severe weather to teach your kids the science behind it. Have them make a hurricane in a bottle. http://www.weirdsciencekids.com/hurricanceinabottle.html
