Food trucks are quickly becoming the staple of street corners and they're one of the hottest trends in Hawaii. So much so, there's a food truck rally every month in Kakaako.
Soon the entire nation will get a glimpse of our growing selection of gourmet on the go food trucks.
Soul Patrol is one of four food trucks the Cooking Channel's "Eat Street" will be filming this week - to feature this Fall on its show about America's tastiest, messiest and most irresistible street food.
"A soul food truck coming out onto the market was a new thing, now you have Filipino tacos-fusion, all kinds of cuisine," says Soul Patrol Chef & Owner Sean Priester.
Soul Patrol, Camille's on Wheels, Flip'T Out Eats and Opal Thai were the restaurants chosen. Four food trucks that mix it up from Kaakaako to Kailua and from Haleiwa to Alakea street.
"I think there's a lot of diversity a lot of people can appreciate," said Soul Patrol customer Jenny Marion.
"In Chicago they don't sell food on the street, it's illegal I think, so it's different to get it here, we love it," said Lisa Simon, Soul Patrol customer.
The Hawaii Visitors and Convention Bureau pushed for the show to come here - hoping it would entice new travelers to sample some of the best Honolulu has to offer.
"They need something else to attract people here and so food is definitely a way to get them to stay here," said Brent Tokita, Soul food customer.
"Every opportunity we can get to let people know we can cook out here is a good opportunity," said Priester.
