With the popularity of 3D movies comes a new way to help promote Hawaii tourism using the technology. A local company says it now has the first 3D travel site in the world.
"So I can click on rooms and suites I can look at information about their spa I can view their specials and packages for the day and then I can click here to book now,” said Craig Carapelho, CEO of Team Vision Virtual.
Carapelho explains how it will be easier for people to book their next trip to Hawaii with the website the company just launched called 3DHawaii.com.
He calls it the evolution of travel planning, because it allows users to see hotels and other attractions in virtual 3D.
"So you could literally fly down the streets of Waikiki, click on a hotel, veer off the path, go down Kalakaua, click on Royal Hawaiian Center, click on a merchant in there pull up a website so it's virtual exploration,” said Carapelho.
The company has signed up major hotels and stores along with two thousand tourist attractions. 3D Hawaii incorporates Google Earth and Google Map, which are two of the most visited websites for travelers.
Carapelho says that will drive more online traffic to Hawaii businesses and attractions. "All of our buildings on Google Earth and Map links to 3D Hawaii dot com so we're driving an enormous amount of new visitors to Hawaii and new bookings to partners on our site."
Users can also plan their vacation by getting a better look at island activities.
Hikers can go to an area and see what trails are available.
"You can get an actual 3D tour showing you the location and beauty of the environment then if you click on the website which will be here it will tell you the difficulty rating best times of day where to park,” said Carapelho.
It doesn't have everything just yet but the company plans to keep adding on to the website.
