Work to repair a vital water main on the Leeward coast is costing some drivers.
Mechanics are noticing a rise in the number of cars coming in for bent rims, worn shocks and damaged tires.
And those repairs don't come cheap.
The Board of Water Supply says they've been fielding complaints to the contractor in charge.
Along Farrington Highway in Nanakuli many drivers have to maneuver over steel plates that are being used to patch up work being done to replace an aging 24-inch underground water main.
Elroy Victorine says his truck has had 2 re-alignments done in the past three months, he's had to replace 2 tire rods and two tires.
"I spent roughly about $500 to $600," says Victorine.
Victorine says since repairs began on the roadway, repairs to his 2003 truck have been never ending.
Getting a lot of bent rims, worn shocks, worn tires struts, springs actually breaking," says Dansen Carvalho of Dansen's Auto Repair.
Dansen's auto repair in Waianae says they've seen more business as a direct result of poor road conditions.
"Almost on a daily basis we have at least one car everyday."
Repairs can cost a few hundred to thousands of dollars.
"Any residents that have property claims to file should follow up directly with the contractor," says Kurt Tsue of the Board of Water Supply.
The Board of Water supply has been fielding those complaints to Okada Trucking.
"Because these complaints have been coming in we have requested a schedule of action when Okada trucking will repave the road."
"They are working as fast as we can to get the work done and be out of the community."
Okada trucking could not be reached for comment.
The board of water supply says the work should be complete in about 15 months.
