Hawaii is becoming the hot destination for more airline companies.
One airline is adding new flights between Hawaii and California and another is planning to start flying here.
Finding a direct flight to and from Hawaii to parts of California used to be difficult, until now.
Sunday, Continental Airlines added several direct flights from Honolulu and Maui to Orange County and Los Angeles.
"I was kind of worried I had to fly into LAX and then I realized Continental direct, that's great," said Sherri Dolder, a Continental passenger.
"Markets such as Orange County to Honolulu after Aloha disappeared, we had nobody serving that market. Now Continental is jumping back in," said aviation analyst Peter Forman.
Another company planning to jump in to offer direct service to Hawaii is Allegiant Air.
"The airlines are getting optimistic about the market and Allegiant's new service from smaller communities that have no Hawaii service right now, I think is going to be a big plus," said Forman.
Allegiant Air plans to acquire six Boeing 757s, adding up to six new routes to and from Hawaii.
"Allegiant's business is actually going to create some new business that's not there already so that's going to be good," said Forman.
Forman also says the added flights and new airline will add more competition in the market.
"The more flights we can get into Hawaii right now and out of Hawaii brings more people and more people, brings more revenue to Hawaii," said Craig Powers, a Continental passenger.
And travelers could also see cheaper airfares.
"More flights, more competition, hopefully it'll keep the prices low yeah, it's great," said Dolder.
Some of the cities Allegiant Air currently services are Las Vegas, Fresno, Eugene, Oregon and Mesa, Arizona.
The Hawaii Tourism Authority hopes to get more information about Allegiant Air's specific plans later this month.
