Maui teen rescued from hiking trail in Haiku

A Maui teenager is home after being rescued from a hiking trail last night.

Maui officials say the 17 year-old boy was hiking with a group in Bamboo Forest in Haiku when he got separated.

He was stranded for about two hours before firefighters rescued him from the trail.

He was not injured.

Practically every week, hiker(s) either get lost or injured and must be rescued by firefighters. As this takes the firefighters away from fighting fires (as their title implies), hikers in need of assistance should be charged for the firefighers' time.
