Newly elected Republic of Marshall Islands President Christopher Loeak and First Lady Anono Lieom Loeak made their inaugural visit to Hawaii on February 2, 2012.

President Loeak and his delegation met with Governor Neil Abercrombie as well as other state officials.

While meeting with officials, President Loeak discussed issues relating to the Compact of Free Association and to reaffirm the RMI government's commitment towards a mutually beneficial outcome to the significant issues.

"I would like to thank the people of Hawaii for their hospitality during my visit," said Republic of Marshall Islands President Christopher Loeak.

"Hawaii is such a beautiful place and we can see why many of our residents have chosen to make their home here. I thank the people of Hawaii for opening their hearts to them and for their generous compassion."

You must remember that the US had to compensate the Marshallese for the harm done by the nuclear tests at Eniwetok. The resulting radiation made a number of the islands inhabitable and caused birth defects, much as the use of uranium in shell warheads did to the babies in Iraq. We owe the people in Iraq compensation for using uranium in the war heads.

President Loeak, " Hawaii is such a beautiful place that is why our residents chose to reside here." Really, I think it's because of free food, welfare, free housing and medical, etc, etc. Plus they do bring a lot of crime here. Auwe!!

@flyingbubo I definitely agree with you... Or if they get busted with police they should be deported instead of wasting tax dollars for the real people who are trying to make a decent living.

Maybe the President can give aids to the financially limited State of Hawaii and its city government for taking care of his people.
