A mechanic died this afternoon after he got pinned between a forklift and a parked truck.

It happened in Iwilei near Best Buy.

Police say the mechanic was doing maintenance work on the fork lift when something went wrong.

Family members and co-workers identify the victim as Steven Lee.

Steven Lee's siblings say their brother was trying to turn his life around.

They say he was separated from his wife and had custody of their seven-year old son.

Lee died Monday afternoon in what police are calling "an industrial accident."

Police and paramedics were called to the industrial warehouses in Iwilei, between Costco gas station and Best Buy, shortly before 4 pm.

"Police arrived and found a victim who had apparently been pinned between a forklift and a truck.

a parked truck," said Honolulu Police Maj. William Chur.

Lee was pronounced dead at the scene.

His siblings say he worked for Siu's Electric Corporation as a mechanic for the past six years.

"There was another person who was working on the forklift who saw what happened. They were mechanically working on the forklift and it suddenly apparently lurched backwards. We don't know exactly why that happened," said Chur.

Police do not suspect foul play and they've classified the case as an unattended death.

"But it's being treated as an industrial accident and our criminal investigation division will be investigating," said Chur.

Lee's siblings say in addition to leaving behind a young son, their brother also leaves behind two adult daughters.

They say their brother lived in Waianae, and was 54-years old.

In fact, he turned 54 today. Today is his birthday.

Meanwhile, officials at Siu's Electric said they had no comment tonight because they were still trying to come to grips with what happened.
