Aaron Susa admits getting into an argument and altercation with Bryanna Antone, but denies killing her.
The 31-year-old is accused of murdering the 25-year-old tourist from New Mexico on Waikiki Beach.
Susa made his first court appearance Monday.
Aaron Susa is charged with second degree murder.
Bryanna Antone's nude body was found on Waikiki Beach on October 2nd.
According to court documents Susa told police he had consensual sex with Antone on Waikiki Beach that morning.
And Susa's DNA evidence was found on Antone.
Her first contact with Susa came the day before.
During that first meeting Susa told her he had just gotten out of prison.
According to police reports the two ended up drinking together that night and into the next day.
In the early morning hours of Friday, October 2nd witnesses describe seeing a man on top of a woman on Waikiki beach and that he was either shoving her or choking her with both hands near the throat area.
According to preliminary findings by the medical examiner Bryanna Antone had suspicious injuries, including a fractured thyroid larynx, and bruising to the neck and chest areas.
Near the crime scene on Waikiki beach police also recovered paper work that belonged to Susa.
Witnesses to the alleged attack picked Susa out of a photo lineup.
The 31-year-old is being held on $500,000 bail.
