UPDATE: Route 180, between Palani Road and Hualalai Road, has reopened, as of 2:42 p.m. Sunday.

Route 180 in the Kailua Kona area is closed because of a downed utility pole and lines, and will remain closed for the next 12 to 16 hours, except for local traffic.
It's the part of route 180 between Palani Road and Hualalai.
Officials say a car hit a utility pole, which brought down the electric lines.
