They’re in the fight of their lives, and now children at Kapiolani Medical Center have some extra help.

Car dealer Hyundai gave a large grant to Kapiolani to help in the fight against childhood cancers.

Lexi Spence knows what it's like to fight cancer.

She's done it for the past year and is currently cancer free.

Reaching a hand out is exactly what Hyundai is doing for young cancer patients all across America, including right here in Hawaii.

"I just want to tell people who have cancer out there, or just going through anything, know that you're not alone and there are people who love and support you all the way,” said Tammie Miura.

Which is what Tammie says she's got plenty of from the good folks at Kapiolani, like family.

"And I think that helped me in coping so much that, just to feel like this is my mom taking care of me, or my aunty or uncle. They care for you like you really are a part of their family,” said Miura.

These young people's hand prints will end up on cars all across the country. The program is called Hyundai Hope on Wheels donating tens of millions of dollars to hospitals all around the country.

$100,000 to Kapiolani Hospital on this day and it's appreciated.

And the donations help these young people who know how important each day can be.

"Having cancer can really change a person, and open your eyes to a whole new light on everything. And you learn you've got to do what you've got to do. And live like each day is your last,” said Spence.
