About a dozen Hawaii soldiers helped turn the field at Fern Elementary into a military-style obstacle course today.
It was all part of the school's annual "Jump for the Heart" field day promoting a healthy lifestyle.
The soldiers served as time keepers for the obstacle course and also provided several tactical vehicles for the kids to explore.
"The goal for this event is just to project a positive image of the army to the community, showing that we're here to support the school - showing the kids just some things they can do," said First Sergeant Martin Jenkins, from the 311th Signal Commands.
This is the second year soldiers with the 311th signal command have visited the school.
The soldiers also participate in the school's "Read Out Loud" program.
