Optimism over a new contract for Hawaiian Electric workers hit a sour note today after the agreement was rejected by rank-and-file members.
Nearly 1300 IBEW members have been working under a contract extension since October of last year.
The agreement that was voted down would have covered HECO employees on Oahu, Maui and the Big island.
The company says it hopes to reach a new agreement that balances the interests of its employees and customers.
