Frank De Lima is back at it again with another musical parody.
The popular local comedian has found a way to make us laugh when we need it most.
Just minutes after the all clear was given during the recent tsunami scare, radio listeners asked KSSK's Perry and Price when was Frank De Lima coming out with his latest song.
"Oh pressure."
Wait no more. The tsunami song was completed Sunday night in time for Monday morning listening.
"You know these things either they come or they don't come just like the tsunami either it comes or don't come just like the thoughts," laughed De Lima.
De Lima uses music from Billy Joel's "We Didn't Start the Fire" but nearly went with Sister Sledge's "We Are Family."
"Where's the tsunami?"
But that didn't feel right. Sunday night he and his partners decided on the tune and the words.
"Hilo Bay, Hanalei and that and then we went on to the chorus, 'Where is the tsunami,' which everybody was saying about it that day," he said. "The sirens blowing, we got to get going. Watch for the tsunami, everybody running cause the wave stay coming."
He says images of people shopping and rushing to the gas station added more material.
"And at the end, mahalo ke akua everybody safe and we have plenty pork and beans no need buy anymore for the rest of my life."
This isn't the first time Delima has used parody. He did it after the 2006 earthquake and most recently..
"Furlough, furlough day furlough day furlough day furlough day furlough day is lo-lo."
"The purpose of a comedian is to lighten the load," he explained.
Adding levity like only he can.
"Day miss a day, miss a week, miss a month make us all fall behind Friday come and we got to stay home."
