Cigarettes already cost more than $8 per pack in Hawaii.

Starting July 1st, the cost per pack will increase.

Residents will have to pay 40-cents more in taxes for each pack.

With the new hike, Hawaii residents will be paying $3 in state and federal taxes.

The tax hike on cigarettes will add an estimated $10-million a year to the state’s economy.

Some habits die hard. Eat too much, drink too much, smoke too much! Oh well, Researchers say stick with the habits like these and shorten your life by 10 years or more. The quality of life is important, don't you agree?

I'm with you Alii92, I'm calling BS on this one for sure. The price in Cigarettes has doubled in the last few years, what are you worried about, that I'll die of lung cancer before you can bilk the last penny from my pocket?

if they are going to increase the right to smoke, they might as well impose a tax on breathing free air, and other things as well... why not a beach tax for people who swim in the water... .. why not tax cell phone users... and everything else... how about tax us for the right to live... why not tax those that die as well... this is ridiculous..
