Governor Abercrombie will sign a bill into law Saturday that will affect hundreds of people on Hawaii's organ transplant waiting list.

House Bill 608 will provide the Queen's Medical Center, $1.5 million toward the opening of a new transplant center.

After the sudden closure of Hawaii Medical Center, the only option for patients was to travel to the mainland. Queen's hopes to have its organ transplant program up and running sometime this year.

Why doesn't the governor provide funds to support the continuation of Hawaii Medical Center West, the fastest growth area in the state population wise? It only takes 6 plus or minus hours to get to transplant centers on the mainland. Auwe!!
