Officer Davis had stopped to help the driver of a stalled vehicle when his squad car was hit.

And yesterday .. there was an accident on the freeway ... also involving a stalled car.

The car stalled in the center lane .. an SUV plowed into it .. and flipped over.

Three people were seriously injured.

AAA has some advice on what to do if you run into car trouble on the road.

"The first thing to do is really, to evaluate your situation with the car. if your car has some momentum left and if you can get off the roadway, you don't want to go across traffic, but if you can go further to the right or the left side, that's going to get your car out of the roadway. Then you can alert the motorists by putting a hood up, turning on the flasher, maybe if have something in your car that you can put outside your car, tie something on the car or something, that will alert people that there is something wrong with your car," says Diane Peterson, AAA Hawaii.

AAA advises people to properly maintain their vehicles.
