It's Fourth of July eve at Ala Moana beach park.
As soon as the gates opened at 4:00 a.m. campers began setting up, armed with coolers, grills, tents and chairs.
"Third year out here, second year camping, last year was great so we just decided to start doing it every year now," says camper Jon Benedicto
Some say its tradition, while others say they're not coming back.
About 50-thousand other people are expected to join in the celebration of Independence Day, for what is considered one of the top ten fireworks shows in the country.
For the past eight years Jim Brumling has secured the same location year after year. He has all the amenities complete with food, shower, a comfy place to sleep and volleyball court.
The city says campers are allowed to stay overnight tonight, as long as they are respectful and abide by the rules. Vehicles need to leave by 10:00 p.m. but will be allowed back in at 4:00 a.m. tomorrow morning.
