The Women Speak at RNC

By Gina Mangieri

It was an historic day for Republicans -- and Hawaii -- at the party's convention Today.

A first woman vice presidential nominee taking the podium, and Governor Lingle giving a prime time speech in support of the nominee.

Governor Sarah Palin brought down the house, and playing no small role in that, especially for the Hawaii delegates...Governor Linda Lingle.

The states may be small, but their women leaders -- larger than life on this convention night. First, Governor Lingle previewing the GOP's first female vice presidential nominee.

She weathered a tough first week of media and critic scrutiny and came out strong.

Hawaii's delegation like the rest of the crowd -- enthralled.

Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani gave the night's keynote address then shared with KHON 2 his strong admiration for Lingle and Palin.

As for convention business -- the formal roll call vote to put Senator John Mccain and Palin on the ballott.
