Neighbors Shocked by Murder Suicide

By Olena Rubin

According to police the bodies of a man, woman and child living at this Moohele Street home were found Wednesday afternoon.

Neighbors say there were no signs of abuse and nothing to indicate that the family was having problems to trigger something like this.

“I am saddened so, its just a shame you hate to see families destroyed like that,” neighbor Donna Carter said.

Neighbors identify the family as disabled war veteran Michael, teacher Grineline and young son Michael Junior James.

“They were a very nice family, the father Mike was just really friendly when we first moved in to our house, he was the first one to come in and welcome me to the neighborhood,” Carter said.

Now the neighborhood is stunned by what happened.

“It appears the mother and child were killed sometime last night and the suicide sometime this morning,” Maj. Frank Fujii said.

Sources say the mailman found a note in the mailbox then called police...when officers arrived the doors were unlocked and other notes discovered.

“Did find some notes in the residence that really indicates it was a murder suicide or two murders and a suicide,” Maj. Fujii said.

Neighbors say Michael worked from home selling insurance, while Grineline taught English as a second language at Farrington High School.

“Very friendly, easy going,” Carter said.

Co-workers from Farrington High say she worked at the school for a little over 5 years...and "really made a difference in the lives of many students."

Neighbors say Michael Junior would play basketball with his dad in the driveway.

“The little boy he would come over his ball would go into the yard and he would come over fall and he'd smile,” Carter said.

Neighbors say Michael showed no signs of frustration, abuse or anger to his wife or son...and no one seemed to hear a thing coming from the house Tuesday night.

"I didn't hear anything, nothing was unusual they are a very quite family you know when they are outside they speak but pretty much they keep to themselves,” Carter said.

Neighbors say Michael was friendly and outgoing, he would always say “hello” and played with his son.

“He just enjoyed playing with his son, he loved his son,” Carter said.

Officials from Farrington High School say they will be sending letter home to Grineline’s students and will offer counseling and support if needed tomorrow.
