L&L Drive-Inn® / L&L Hawaiian Barbecue® brings back its 76¢ plate lunch promotion today Tuesday, June 10, 2008 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at its Ke’eaumoku Street (in Wal-Mart), Honolulu location only.

Manolo sets up the day for the event and checks it out early this morning talking with some of the customers in line.

1 Pepsi drinks will also be offered at 10¢. The first ten customers in line will receive a month’s supply of Pepsi drinks and the first 100 will receive a free L&L t-shirt.

A large turnout is anticipated for the event. L&L hopes to break the record of last year’s 2,000 participants in which some stood in line as early as 6:30 AM.

Proceeds from this event will be donated to Goodwill Industries of Hawaii, Inc. whose mission is to “help people with employment barriers to reach their full potential and become self-sufficient”.

They do this every year not only to commemorate the opening of the first L&L in 1976 but to thank there loyal customers and to benefit great causes in Hawaii.

To celebrate the opening of L&L’s new American Samoa location, participating L&L restaurants all over the U.S. will promote the new “Matai” plate, which designates a meal made fit for a chief. The three pound “Matai” plate consists of three heaping scoops of hot rice, two scoops of chilled macaroni salad, and three pieces of award winning Chicken Katsu or Hawaiian Barbecue® Chicken and three pieces of succulent BBQ Beef. For those with lighter appetites, we offer a “Manini” with one scoop of rice and one piece of Chicken (BBQ or Katsu).
