World Ocean Day Promotes Clean Beaches

By KHON News

Today is world ocean day...all around the world people helped keep beaches clean by volunteering their time to preserve shores.

Here in Hawaii volunteers helped remove invasive algae that kills coral reefs.

You can help protect the ocean and marine life by using re-usable bags, picking up any litter you find on the beaches and not standing on reefs or coral.

World Ocean Day is celebrated with activities worldwide. It is an opportunity to reflect on the ocean's importance in our lives, to learn more about the ocean and to take time to do something good for our blue planet.

It's up to each of us to help ensure that the ocean is protected and conserved for future generations through positive changes in our daily lives.
