Silent march for Ewa Beach mother

By Marisa Yamane

She was a mother of four, a grandmother, and a victim of domestic violence.

Tonight, there was a silent march around the State Capitol for Della Dikito -- the Ewa Beach woman who was killed by her husband.

Friends describe Della Dikito as loyal, dependable, supportive and hard working.

Her kids say she did so much for them, always putting them before herself.

"It's hard to accept the fact that I will never see her smile or hear laughter ever again. She had so much to live for and so much more to give. I will always remember her for the wonderful person she was," said Joslin Chun, Della's friend.

Joslin Chun knew Della Dikito for more than 30 years.

They met when they were both around the same age as Della's youngest daughter.

Brenna, Bronlyn, Brelynn and Blayne lost their parents on April 25th.

"I just miss her miss her a lot but even though she's gone she's still in my heart," said 13-year old Bronlyn Dikito.

"Trying to get used to the fact that they're not here anymore," said Brelynn Dikito.

Police say Domingo Dikito shot his wife Della, then killed himself.

"Actually there was violence, but none of us thought it would go this far not this far," said 18-year old Blayne Dikito.

In honor of Della Dikito, and to raise awareness about domestic violence, family, friends, co-workers, and members of the community march around the State Capitol.

"It feels good to know that we have a lot of support for my mom and family," said Bronlyn Dikito.

It's that support from each other and others that has kept the kids strong through this difficult time.

"Mom raised us well. Anything we can do together we can never fail anything," said Blayne Dikito.

"Call me if you need anything. Thank you. Take care."

"I only hope something positive will come from this senseless tragedy for those who are in an abuse relationship please speak up now before it's too late," said Chun.

For now the kids are staying with their grandmother and cousins.
