A young man's life was cut short after an early morning skateboard accident in Kaneohe.
Family members identified the victim as 18-year-old Alan Danielson.
The incident happened along Apapane Street shortly after 2:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Danielson graduated from Castle High School in 2013 and was supposed to start at Honolulu Community College on Monday.
His family says he enjoyed music and wanted to go into music engineering.
Norman Remigio lives right across the street and saw the commotion Tuesday morning.
"All the time, they riding skateboard from the top of the hill coming all the way down. And I even stop a couple of them and tell them, 'You guys should go in the park. What happens if you guys get hurt? Or a car comes and bangs you?'' Remigio said.
Honolulu police opened a negligent homicide investigation after finding out that Danielson was holding onto a side mirror of a moving vehicle when he flew off.
The family says the driver of the vehicle was a friend.
