A setback for a proposed high-rise project in Kakaako.
The Hawaii Community Development Authority recommended denying the condo developer's permit application Wednesday.
Opponents don't want the project at 803 Waimanu Street built so close to a neighboring condo-- less than 40 feet from the Imperial Plaza.
The developer has 12 days to appeal the recommendation.
"I just want to let you know that whatever the decision is, we accept it. But I also want to let you know that we will be back, so this is not the last today, so thank you," MJF Development Corp. President Franco Mola said.
A final decision on the project is expected at a meeting on Aug. 7.
