Hawaii residents can now finally share in the IKEA furniture experience.
The personal shopping service haul2hi opened a showroom on Bethel Street in downtown Honolulu Saturday featuring the popular home furnishing products.
Company spokeswoman Jane Murao said "a lot of local people love Ikea. When they go to the mainland, one of the major stops is Trader Joe's and IKEA. We can get anything from IKEA. What we're here to do is to help people transport it back from the mainland.
"A lot of it is customizable, so a lot of our customers are custom-creating kitchens and entertainment centers," she said.
"We're a little taste of what IKEA is. We just want to bring it to Hawaii, so the local people could feel it, touch it, see the quality, see the textiles, the colors, and get them comfortable with purchasing something that they've never had the chance to go to IKEA, but they always wanted to buy things."
