A 45-year-old Oahu Community Correctional Center staff member died after suffering an apparent cardiac event in the facility on Friday.
The Department of Public Safety says the incident happened shortly before 11:30 a.m. when the man collapsed in the facility.
Staff administered CPR and used an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED).
Emergency Medical Technicians arrived shortly after and transported the man to the Kuakini Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
The victim's name has not been released at this time.
An autopsy will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.
