A moped rider is lucky to be alive after being dragged under the tires of an 18-wheeler truck in Pearl City.
The incident happened just before 10 a.m. Friday on Kamehameha Highway near Puu Momi Street.
Witnesses say the moped rider was weaving in and out of traffic on Kamehameha Highway when he lost control and slid under the truck. He was caught by the rear tires and then dragged about 50 feet.
The 22-year-old victim was taken to the hospital in serious condition.
HPD's Traffic Division was not called to the scene.
