Maui snorkeling spot Ahihi-Kinau Natural Area Reserve closed due to shark sightings

A popular snorkeling spot on Maui will be closed for at least another week until April 23 because of sharks.

The Ahihi-Kinau Natural Area Reserve on the island's south shore has been closed for the last two weeks after multiple tiger sharks were spotted.

They're following young reef sharks and coming close to shore so state officials closed the area to keep people away from a potentially dangerous situation.

Anyone who drives to Ahihi-Kinau needs to know that if the parking lot is closed, coastline entrances into the water are also closed.
