In partnership with the City and County of Honolulu, Hawaii Red Cross volunteers have closed three shelters on Oahu that had been opened in response to Flossie.
The following Oahu shelters have been closed as of 10 p.m. Monday:
- Wahiawa District Park
- Waimanalo District Park
- Brigham Young University Hawaii
The following Oahu shelters closed at 7 a.m. Tuesday:
- Ewa Mahiko District Park
- Kailua District Park
- Kalakaua District Park
- Kilauea District Park
- Koko Head District Park
- Waialua United Church of Christ
- Waianae District Park
In partnership with County of Maui, Hawaii Red Cross volunteers have closed following shelters on Maui that had been opened in response to Flossie.
The following Maui shelters have been closed as of 10 p.m. Monday:
- Kilohana Community Center
- Lanai High School
- Hannibal Tavares (Pukalani) Community Center
- Molokai High School
The following Maui shelters closed at 8 a.m. Tuesday:
- War Memorial Gymnasium
- Lahaina Civic Center
- Kamalii Elementary School
- Hana High School
At least 40 students got sick and 27 of them were taken to the hospital. Officials are now taking a look at what the kids ate for lunch.
An 18-year-old man was arrested in connection with the death of an elderly man in Chinatown.
Sports teams from both Oregon State and Boise State will be on Oahu at the same time to compete in the Hawaii Bowl and Diamond Head Classic.
