Maui firefighters located a missing hunter and airlifted him to safety to the landing zone in the Makawao Forest Reserve Friday morning.
The incident happened at about 1 p.m. Thursday when a hunting party of two men and a woman called for help after the woman suffered an ankle injury and was unable to continue.
According to officials, one of the two men left the group to head back to the truck at about the time of the 911 call, while the other man stayed with the injured woman until crews arrived on the scene Thursday night.
The man who left the group did not return to the truck, without a phone. Search rescue crews searched the area to locate the missing hunter, but the search was suspended at 1:30 a.m. Friday.
Rescue crews resumed the search and he was found in a nearby area of where the woman was picked up on Thursday. He did not require medical attention.
