Maui firefighters responded to a house fire in Wailuku late Thursday night.
The fire broke out just after 10:30 p.m. on Liholiho Street.
When crews arrived to the scene, they saw that the brush directly behind two residences was on fire.
According to officials, neighbors had knocked down the flames with garden horses. They also alerted and evacuated the occupants.
Officials say the overgrown grass burned to less than a foot from the rear patio deck of the house. The home did not sustain any damages.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
The City explains why the restroom has been closed for several weeks, and when it's expected to re-open. There's also a temporary remedy on the way.
Drivers can expect road closures during all hours of the day in different areas across the H-1 Freeway.
