A man accused of sexually assaulting a woman at Maui Mall appeared in court on Wednesday.
Maui Police say Charles Cowans assaulted the woman on Friday.
The victim testified in court and described how she tried to get away from Cowans but she said Cowans grabbed her and dragged her back in the dressing room.
According to public safety officials, Cowans was released from jail the day before after serving time for violating terms of his probation.
He was sentenced in 1992 on attempted murder and kidnapping charges.
Cowans is being held at the Wailuku police station on $1 million bail.
The first runner to cross the finish line of the 2013 Honolulu Marathon was Gilbert Chepkwony who finished in 2:18:47.
Thousands gathered at the memorial to pay tribute to those who paid the ultimate sacrifice and to those who survived.
You may remember the story we did earlier this week about the Pearl Harbor survivor who was headed here from the mainland for the ceremony, he was bumped from the flight and didn't know if he would get here in time.
