Police say a 17-year-old boy was driving a Jeep Friday afternoon and rear-ended a car on Kaumualii Highway near Kukui Grove Center.
After he hit the first car, police said he hit another vehicle while trying to make a left turn, just past Kauai Community College.
Police cited the teen for negligent injury, leaving the scene of an accident, and for having no insurance.
They say he was released to his guardian.
One of the other drivers involved in the incident was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The first runner to cross the finish line of the 2013 Honolulu Marathon was Gilbert Chepkwony who finished in 2:18:47.
