The USGS Hawaiian Volcano Observatory released new photographs of Kupapau Point, Puu Oo, and the lava lake in Halemaumau on Friday.
The ocean entry near Kupapau Point remains weak with the main entry point showing small streams of lava that cascade into the ocean.
The Kahaualea 2 flow continues to invade the forest line north of Puu Oo.
At the time of these photographs, the lava lake in Halemaumau was not spattering at its usual point near the left side of the lake. Instead, the lava lake was spattering at points on the west and northwest side of the lake.
If the lake continues to rise, pieces of the overhang may collapse.
