The Honolulu Police Department's newest batch of police officers is much smaller than usual, in part due to a cheating scandal at the police academy.
Wednesday night's graduation ceremony featured just 12 recruits in the 182nd Class.
The previous class had 47 graduates.
HPD spokeswoman Michelle Yu said part of the reason the class was smaller was because "there was an investigation into alleged cheating at the academy, and several recruits were required to leave.
"No officers were disciplined or reassigned" because of the investigation, she noted.
We asked, but police would not say how many recruits were in the class to begin with, or what exactly the cheating allegations entailed.
The new officers will be partnered with veteran officers to get more experience in the field.
