HONOLULU (AP) - The Honolulu Police Department and the small business Native Hawaiian Veterans, LLC are semifinalists for the 2013 Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award.
The award is the Defense Department's highest honor for employers who show extraordinary support for employees serving in the National Guard and Reserve.
A department committee will announce the finalists next month. Up to 15 recipients will be announced this summer and honored later this year in Washington, D.C.
Nearly 3,000 employers were nominated for the award.
The Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve committee said Tuesday there are 138 semifinalists.
