Honolulu firefighters were called to the Kaau Crater Loop Trail in Palolo after a group of hikers couldn't make their way out.
The incident was reported shortly before 4:30 p.m. Monday.
According to rescuers, they were trying to hike to an area called "First Falls," which is about a mile into the trail.
The group made it out of the trail safely by about 7 p.m.
Sources tell KHON2 that state Department of Health Director Loretta Fuddy died in a plane crash off Molokai.
There's a grinch at the Hawaii State Veteran's Cemetery. At least, that's what those who have loved ones buried there are saying. They've been told their holiday decorations at gravesites will have to come down.
